Three Guys, Adam, Cornelius and Peter.
I've been thinking a lot about these three guys over the past couple of weeks. And how each of them reflect who we are as the CTFCM.
First Adam. Yeah we all know Adams story. Adam talked directly with God, but he failed to do his job. He didn't protect his family from the evil One, he decided to go against God's will, and he eventually blamed all of the errors on Eve. But did you ever notice ... Adam was a loner. It was just him and Eve. No one to cover his back.
Second, lets talk about Cornelius. Cornelius was the first Gentile convert. He was a Roman Centurion, which means he knew how to fight. He was a father, and when he came to Christ, he brought his whole household with him. That means he led his family, friends and co-workers to the light. But one more thing about Cornelius ... he also had Peter. Cornelius didn't do it on his own. He went to someone who knew the way and he listened.
Finally, lets talk about Peter. Peter had walked with our Lord. And when Cornelius asked for help, Peter was there to back him up. Even though there was great risk to Peter, Peter stuck his neck out and pitched in to help Cornelius.
The CTFCM pretty much is all wrapped up by these three guys.
- We know that Adam still lurks in every man. Alone we are an easy target, going against a powerful enemy and we are leading our families one way or another.
- We know that Cornelius is what we aspire to be. Strong men of faith, who defend and lead our families to Christ.
- We know that we each have a reponsibility to be Peter. Reaching out and helping each man on the path.
So as you read this post, ask yourself. "Who am I today?"
Adam, Cornelius or Peter.
